Davida (RYT 200) began her exploration with yoga 15 years ago. Yoga began as a supplement to her running and healthy lifestyle at first, but soon after a hip injury limited her ability to run and yoga took center stage. The healing effects, renewed sense of energy and peaceful, calm after her daily practice led way to pursuing a career in yoga. After completing her first teachers' training in 2013 she went on to become a teacher with a focus on restorative yoga and teaching all ages that yoga is accessible to everyone regardless of gender, age, size or physical ability. She continues to pursue education in yoga with an emphasis in Restorative postures to relax, restore and reconnect. This ongoing process of learning is what provides the fresh insights that inspire her teaching. Healthy breathing, alignment, and balanced energy flow are consistent points of focus in her private sessions. Her teaching style is intuitive and nourishes the hidden strengths of her students while challenging them to reach beyond their limitations. Davida is currently pursuing her 500 hour teaching certification.
The first 5 years of my personal yoga practice focused on vinyasa flow and it helped me to stay energized and fit while also increasing my flexibility. Slowly after I started to incorporate restorative postures and not only does my body need it but I find myself as I age craving a slower flow to help with relaxing my body after a long day. Restorative yoga is a practice of conscious supported relaxation that is quiet yet powerful and is crucial for everybody with today’s stress induced daily activities, children, teens, adults of all ages can benefit as it:
Encourages mindfulness
Deeply nurturing and relaxes the body
Soothes our nervous system
Heightens our self-awareness
Teaches ourselves that it’s “ok to slow down”
A typical session involves 5 or 6 poses, supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. While the postures can be held for 5 minutes or more it’s important to listen to your body and of course adjustments can be vital to absorb all the benefits of the pose that faciLitate relaxation and health At the end of a session you will walk away relaxed and renewed! A session can also combine vinyasa flow and end with restorative poses.
